ʿifrit

A spirit or jinn.

ʿishq

Passionate love or devotion.

ʿishq-i haqiqi

Love of the Divine, or true love.

ʿishq-i majazi

Love of anything other than the Divine: that is, metaphorical love, capable of leading to love of the Divine.

ʿulama

The learned class or religious clerics, sometimes criticised or ridiculed by mystic poets.

ʿunvan

An ornamented, rectangular top section of a page in an illuminated manuscript that usually refers to the text that follows.
