Love and Devotion: From Persia and Beyond

Digital storytelling & Love and devotion

This inquiry unit details how you can use digital storytelling to represent classic Persian tales.

Refer to the Digital storytelling & Love and devotion curriculum outcomes to see how this unit aligns with VELS standards for levels 4 and 5.

Engage

  • Brainstorm and investigate definitions and examples of digital storytelling. See Useful websites for a list of digital storytelling resources. Try using Wallwisher, a digital brainstorming tool that allows you to create a virtual wall that students can add their own messages or 'stickynotes' to.

Explore

  • Define different forms of digital storytelling. Examples may include: a narrated story with images and/or video, an audio-only podcast, a story with images and no audio, or an online comic strip.
  • For each form, record findings for: online and software resources available, equipment and planning required, and examples of digital stories.

Explain

Elaborate

Evaluate

  • Develop a rubric that allows students, teachers or peers to evaluate progress, and supports students in reflecting on their learning and identifying future goals.
  • Consider the relevant VELS for your activity. Refer to the Digital storytelling & Love and devotion curriculum outcomes.
