Love and Devotion: From Persia and Beyond

Telling the story

Create a digital story using a classic Persian text. Students are free to represent all or part of a story, or to give it a fresh interpretation.

This activity is linked to the Digital storytelling & 'Love and devotion' inquiry unit and targeted at VELS Level 4–5 students. Refer to the curriculum outcomes to see how this unit aligns with VELS.


  • Choose a story from the Story summaries.
  • Using Microsoft PowerPoint, create slides using the resources below, eg a choice of character cut-outs on top of background images.
  • To add images, select Insert > picture > from file. To bring an image to the front or back of a slide, right-click over the image and select order.
  • Plan, write and edit a script to accompany each slide, representing or reinterpreting the Persian tale.
  • Record the audio script using a headset microphone.
  • Save the file. Click on the audio icon during playback to hear the presentation.
