Your State Library, your sayWhite Night Melbourne
We're excited to be taking part in White Night, an exciting new major event for Melbourne, inspired by the international Nuit Blanche network.
White Night (the anglicisation of Nuit Blanche) was originally conceived in Paris, France in 2002, as a way to make art and culture accessible to large audiences in public spaces.
In 2013, Melbourne will be the first city in Australia to join the ranks of 23 global cities producing similar all-night events, with activites at Federation Square, ACMI, the Forum, Degraves Street and many other locations in the CBD.
Join us from 7pm on Saturday 23 February for an all-night celebration of arts and culture!
See the State Library’s facade come alive with projections and illuminations; visit our magnificent Queen’s Hall and take part in the Whispering Society’s immersive storytelling game; enjoy music under the iconic dome, featuring the Exaudi Youth Choir, harmonic singing by Dean Frenkel, and harp and voice from Claire Patti; and pop into our Gusto! exhibition.
This is a family-friendly program, suitable for people of all ages.
Visit the White Night Melbourne website for more information and to view the full program.
