This instalment of my Top 5 domed libraries looks at a library with over 22- million catalogued books and more than 151- million items. It’s the largest library in the world.
Number 3 – The Library of Congress
The Library of Congress is the oldest federal cultural institution in the United States. It was instituted in 1800, and the current, domed building was opened in 1897, and then modernised, restored and re-opened in 1987. Like the State Library of Victoria, the Library of Congress is also a legal deposit library.
